Tallapoosa River Float Trip

Tallapoosa River - There are several segments you can travel on the Tallapoosa River: Wadley Launch - Put in at the Hwy. 22 river bridge in Wadley, AL. Takes about 5 hours to go to Germany Ferry Road 19.5 miles downstream. Germany Ferry Road Launch - Located off Hwy. 79, put in at the bridge. It takes about 6 to 7 hours (full day) to canoe downstream to Horseshoe Bend National Military Park. Horseshoe Bend Launch - Put in at the Horseshoe Bend Park boat ramp beside the Hwy. 49 bridge. It takes about 2 hours to canoe downstream to Jay Bird Creek (with high water level after rain). Jay Bird Creek meets the Tallapoosa on the left. Your car can reach Jay Bird Creek via Boone Valley Road.
